The Insurance Museum collects graduation theses written about insurance

The Insurance Museum started a unique project for collecting and storing at the museum’s library graduation theses written about insurance. We invite everyone who has written a diploma, baccalaureus or any other research thesis in different schools and during different times to donate their work to the museum.
According to the words of the director of the Insurance Museum Ada Treumuth the persons who donate their research papers can be the role models and encourage the students to write their graduation theses on the subject of insurance also in the future.

"Recording and respecting the history, learning about the achievements of science and their application in everyday work is the basis for development and success and it makes us all cultural people. Let us jointly help young people to find the way to insurance activities and science!” said Mrs. Ada Treumuth.

We ask you to send detailed information about your paper by registering at the home page of If www.if.ee until 10 November. All registered persons will be contacted in order to agree on if the person wishes to bring the work on paper or digitally. Furthermore, all authors and supervisors of the graduation theses registered by 10 November will be invited to a reception at the Insurance Museum.

Every year tens of students visit the museum to obtain consultations or necessary material for writing the research papers. More than 40 of them have also donated their graduation theses to the library of the museum.

So far, the largest number of graduation theses has been donated to the Insurance Museum by the students of Tallinn University, Tallinn University of Technology, Academy Nord as well as students of other higher education institutions.
“Due to the fact that many graduates have written their theses on the basis of materials obtained also from other sources, we wish to supplement our library with the works of these authors and record them in the history of insurance,” added Ada Treumuth.

The Insurance Museum was established in 1980 and the museum has a unique and ample collection with 6500 showpieces. The library of the museum has over 3000 books and brochures in different languages, some of them are the only copies in Estonia.

The Insurance Museum is located at the main office of If Insurance in Tallinn at Pronksi 19. Visiting the museum and obtaining consultations and materials is free of charge for everyone. The visits by groups as well as individuals must be agreed in advance by telephone 667 1126 or e-mail muuseum@if.ee.
