Good to know about the green card
The green card is the motor third party liability insurance valid abroad that is recognised in most European Union countries.
The green card is the basis for indemnifying damages which you cause to other people or vehicles in traffic while being abroad. Damages to your car are not indemnified on the basis of the green card.
You do not need to take the green card with you if you go to the countries of the European Economic Area (including European Union) or Switzerland because there the insurance cover is provided by the ordinary motor third party liability insurance contract.
It is obligatory to take the green card with you to the countries of the green card system which are not the contracting states of the European Union or the European Economic Area.
These countries are
Albania, Andorra, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Israel, Iran, Macedonia, Morocco, Moldavia, Montenegro, Serbia, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Byelorussia, Russia (since 01.01.2009).
The green card is issued free of charge for the period of validity of the ordinary policy.
