You are a forest owner or have a plantation? Forest insurance gives you peace of mind – if a forest fire, adverse weather conditions, or wild animals cause damage to your forest or to the harvested timber, the insurance will help you cope with the loss.
Increasingly unpredictable weather conditions can lead to fires and windsnaps. Forest insurance helps you deal with the consequences and financial losses.
We indemnify damages caused by forest fires
We indemnify damages caused by a forest fire and firefighting activities, regardless of whether the fire was started by lightning, an explosion, an aircraft accident, spontaneous combustion, or arson.
With comprehensive insurance, damages caused by weather and wildlife are also covered
In addition to forest fires, comprehensive insurance covers damage to growing forests caused by storms, hail, snow, and wild animals.
You can insure forests that are designated as forest land according to land management regulations and registered in the land register, as well as timber harvested from such land. A growing forest is a stand used for forestry purposes: young, middle-aged, maturing, and mature stand.
When is forest insurance useful
When a forest fire destroys the forest
During summer droughts, the risk of forest fires increases. Whether caused by an out-of-control bonfire, deliberate arson, lightning, an explosion, or an aircraft accident, a forest fire can cause dreadful destruction and major financial loss.
We indemnify damages caused by forest fire and firefighting activities.
When storm, snow, or hail cause damage
In recent years, incidents in which weather conditions have caused major financial losses to forests have become increasingly frequent. Storms (including whirlwinds), heavy snow, and hail can damage forests, breaking trees and treetops.
We indemnify the value of destroyed or damaged trees according to the degree of damage, as well as the costs of felling, clearing, and reforestation related to the damage.
When wild animals cause significant damage to the forest
Young, growing forests and plantations can be highly attractive to wild animals – they enjoy eating young shoots, treetops, and even bark. Such damage, however, can lead to the death of a tree or deformity of its trunk.
We indemnify damages caused by wild animals to middle-aged, maturing, and mature forests if a single block of forest of at least 0.5 hectares has been damaged and needs complete reforestation. We also compensate for damage caused to young stands if a single block of forest of at least 0.3 hectares requires reforestation.
